Selling a mobility scooter involves far less paperwork than selling a car. In most cases you need nothing more than the scooter itself.

Do mobility scooters need tax, MOT or a V5C?

No. Mobility scooters in the UK do not require road tax, an MOT or a V5C logbook. Some road-legal Class 3 (8mph) scooters are registered with the DVLA, but there is no logbook to hand over in the way there is with a car. If the scooter does have a V5C, the dealer will take care of the transfer when they collect.

What paperwork helps?

The original purchase receipt or invoice, the user manual, any warranty documents, service records, and battery replacement receipts. None are essential, but they reassure the dealer and can support a stronger offer.

What if I have lost everything?

That is very common and it is not a problem. Most dealers proceed with just the scooter, the keys and the charger.
